Review of The Second Mother (2015) by Dave P — 29 Aug 2015
This sometimes wickedly funny meditation on motherhood, class and personal values turns on the amazing dour eyed performance of Regina Case and the directors' uncanny ability to turn the prism around slowly and methodically to show us even the unforeseen angles our choices create.
A rare film that allows you to smartly feel an array of sympathy for its characters while being archly funny at the same time. My second favorite Brazilian export of the year.
