Review of The Searchers (1956) by Ryan W — 07 Jan 2009
I was actually surprised to be underwhelmed by Ford's direction, in spite of the occasionally admirable shot (such as the one that concludes the film), but the moral complexity of the story itself separates "The Searchers" from the standard Western and the more light hearted aspects of the picture provide an effective counter balance to the tragedies and atrocities depicted.
