Review of The Searchers (1956) by Jason M — 17 May 2012
Classic. Sure, there's some 50's corn here, and the ending gets a little schlocky by today's standards, but it can't kill this movie. John Wayne is at his best, he does stuff in this movie that actors just don't know how to do anymore.
You really forget he's an actor in a movie, he has such ease and he is so at home in the genre. Check out the chemistry between him and Ward Bond - priceless. They don't make guys like this anymore.
Or rather - guys like this aren't making movies.
