There are no explosions, car chases, screeching characters in heavy makeup, spandex-clad superheroes, or bonding scenes where the cast dances around a kitchen table to a rock-n-roll oldie. Matthew McConaughey delivers subtlety and Watts answers his energy beautifully.
Had this film been submitted with unknown foreign actors, not in English, with subtitles, I suspect critics would have been all over it.
