Review of The Sea Inside (2004) by Jessie H — 24 Jan 2008
Amenabar presents us with a troubling revelation through this film, by the end of it we know how it feels to want to die. We have explored it intricately with Bardem, felt, touched and tasted the desperation of being completely reliant on the people who you love and who also you wish to leave behind.
It is beautiful when Bardem's character wakes in the night from a dream of life only to crave death, and he cries with frustration, "Why do I want to die?" brilliant and thought provoking.
