Javier Bardem's excellent performance makes this grim drama about a Spanish man wishing to gain the legal right to assisted suicide worth watching. Side-stepping weepy formula for the most part, The Sea Inside actively engages both sides of the euthanasia argument while highlighting the ultimate freedom that most of us take for granted.
