Review of The Sea Inside (2004) by Nabanita S — 07 Jun 2012
Based on the compelling true story of Ramón Sampedro, a fisherman and poet who dove into shallow water and became a bedridden quadriplegic at the age of 26, The Sea Inside is a beautiful collaboration between Spainâ(TM)s most talented contemporaries.
Why Bardem wasnâ(TM)t nominated for an Oscar, Iâ(TM)ll never understand. As Sampedro, a man bent on legalizing euthanasia and ending his life peacefully, Bardem has never seemed so alive. Simple and delicate visuals combined with an intelligent and passionate treatment on such a taboo subject make this film beautifully bittersweet.
