Review of The Scorpion King (2002) by Jordan R — 01 Jul 2011
The Scorpion King is a cheesy yet really fun and highly entertaining popcorn movie, and a great guilty pleasure of mine. I wasn't surprised though, it is a spin-off to the Mummy franchise so it never takes itself seriously and it's not supposed to.
You can tell everyone here is having fun. The casting was really good as well. Even though there is some corny dialogue, there are still a lot of solid performances from everyone. The action steals the show somewhat as it was very exhilarating and a whole lot of fun to watch.
I can't really criticize this movie too much as it's obvious to see where the flaws are, and I also really enjoyed it a whole lot. If I had to pick one though it would be the rock soundtrack. (no pun intended) Didn't suit the film very well.
Don't get me wrong, I like rock music and all but a desert score would have made more sense. This is still a great, fun adventure film overall though!
