Review of The Scorpion King (2002) by Stefan G — 06 Apr 2013
I don't think Dwayne Johnson has been in a lot of good movies, because for his first starring role, it's a really bad example. The characters have generic naming conventions and two-dimensional personalities.
The story seems like one big fantasy cliche rolled into a $60 million package. I'm not kidding. The special effects are mediocre (except for the flaming swords), and the action, though the movie is loaded with action, it all seems so bland and artificial.
I'm willing to bet that the producers knew it was artificial, so they try and keep us men interested with plenty of "attractive" women. But the women look so artificial that I can see right through it all.
If you're looking for a fantasy action spectacle, don't look here.
