Review of The Science of Sleep (2006) by Quentin N — 19 Jan 2009
Here is the perfect example of what happens when sheer genius and pure insanity mix together. The Science of Sleep is absolutely brilliant. It is poetically beautiful at one point, and maddeningly bizarre the next.
This is a film that you have to be prepared to think about while watching it. The film itself does not make sense on the surface level but if you dig deeper and think about what is supposed to be going on, then you will find a strangely sweet little story that is only enhanced by the visual storytelling.
The film also captures perfect dream logic, which is really all the film operates on. Basically, you should approach this film as if you were asleep and not awake.
