Review of The Science of Sleep (2006) by Clayton K — 17 May 2009
I truly wanted to love this movie but am not sure it earnt that. Throughout it I switched from being in awe of its creativity and homunculus referencing to being tired of its lack of progress and feeling it was simply randomness.
Gael Bernal was good but lacked anything particularly special, the same can be said for many of his co-stars. I guess what I'm getting at is that though Gondry has created something rather interesting here, it lacked and real substance... then again maybe thats what he was getting at with dreams and stuff... who knows... maybe I'm just trying too hard to like something I found rather disappointing.
