Review of The Science of Sleep (2006) by Evan J — 28 May 2009
Beautiful, artistic film...while I didnt like it as much as eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, I still thought it was very creative, it would have been just as good as eternal sunshine if it had just a hint of charlie kaufman.
..anyways, the first hour or so of this film is awesome, but after that it just becomes way too chaotic, and I guess thats what gondry intended to do, I will definitely give him credit for putting the audience in the world of stephane by confusing dream and reality, but he really takes it too far by the end of the film.
..and the same goes with the character of stephane, he is very likable at the beginning because he comes across as this eccentric artist that cannot distinguish dream from reality, but then he turns into this unlikable character that distorts reality because of his overt paranoia.
..i guess the reason I still give this a four star is because it was very artistic and creative.
