Review of The Science of Sleep (2006) by Raelene L — 22 Dec 2009
Totally absurd, yet beautiful. Fantastical. I love Gondry's absurd style and his ability to absorb us into a dreamlike state. Much like my first viewing of Eternal Sunshine, I am bewildered. The story is confusing, but such is Gondry's way of emphasising Stephane's inability to differentiate between his dreams and reality.
Visually the film is beautiful. The story could be lacking substance in plot, but I feel like it doesn't matter as Gondry's worlds are so alluring and magical. I would very much like to see this again!
