Review of The Science of Sleep (2006) by Alejandra C — 19 Feb 2010
Watching this film is like watching a person talk in a particular way and then stop and when that person verbally awakes, that person is speaking in a different way. I'm not just saying that because of the different languages spoken but also because there is a lot on offer here, both visually and in sounds.
The editing choices is a kaleidoscope of animation and organic effects that alters just as its meant to in the story and this can be a frustrating but also a rewarding experience. I like the idea that the person you have a crush on can become part of your mentality.
It's a simple idea that is woven into a complex tapestry of emotion and ideas. The film can leave with a feeling of warmth as these characters are both unique and lovely personality. If dreams are this dangerous maybe we shouldn't dream but we are not Stephane, meaning we know whats real and what's merely in our heads.
