Review of The Science of Sleep (2006) by Gokul P — 23 Feb 2010
Beautifully surreal, reading like a random dream sequence, with rapid cuts and disjointed scenes, independent of one another, but still making sense in a way that only the subconscious brain can. It's hard to get a complete sense of the movie even with multiple viewings, or to understand and analyze it completely, except maybe on a more superficial level, where the movie tells the story of a creative guy living a life of drudgery and escapes into a world of his own imagination he creates. Where he progresses to a point where he has trouble telling between his dreams and his real life..
Beautiful to watch. As always, Gael Garcia Bernal is great!
