Review of The Science of Sleep (2006) by Ana R — 19 May 2009
5-stars for the creativity, humor and believable romanticism. 3-stars for the story. Gondry needs to realize when 'enough is enough'. The first hour of this movie is great and really feels like it's going somewhere, but then it becomes a mess and doesn't end.
It tries to be a little too "Eternal Sunshine" at times, but the biggest problem here is no Charlie Kaufman. Him and Gondry really need to hook up again. Other than that, the acting is great.
The characters are awesome. This felt like Across the Universe/I Heart Huckabees/Eternal Sunshine rolled into one really messy movie that makes you smile reflecting on it.
