Review of The Savages (2007) by Nate W — 20 Sep 2008
"The Savages" is a slow-moving, but nonetheless entertaining dramedy that will hit close to home for anyone who has had to care for an aging family member. Laura Linney and Philip Seymour Hoffman are great together, and Philip Bosco hits all the right notes as their slowly degenerating father.
It's a good film, but unfortunately, Tamara Jenkins' direction seems to lack the emotional punch that could have made this a great film.
