Review of The Savages (2007) by Danielle O — 12 Feb 2009
A dysfunctional family drama featuring a strong pairing-up of actors Laura Linney and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Though they have a distant sibling relationship, the two characters share an even greater estrangement, as well as familial obligation toward their elderly father.
When the anticipated finally occurs near the film's ending and Wendy Savage asks, "That's it?" the audience too, is left feeling emotionally unfulfilled. Great movie.
