Review of The Savages (2007) by Mark K — 24 Oct 2010
Quite an emotionally intense movie about an estranged brother and sister, comming together after a long gap, to care for their father, suffering from dementia. Problem is both had faced abuse from their father as kids, and the scars still remain.
Worth a watch for some brilliant writing as well as splendid performances from Philip Seymour Hoffman and Laura Linney. While it does have a bleak tone, the rather optimistic ending, does not look forced.
