Review of The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006) by Johnny T — 21 May 2011
As a full-service holiday movie, The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause gets you into the mood to shop early and often by making the North Pole look like a shopping mall with a never-ending school pageant. There's some potential in this storyline, but the movie doesn't do much with it besides giving Martin Short an opportunity to put on the fat suit. The movie is more cute than funny. Smiles are plentiful, but outright laughs are widely scattered. Playing Jack Frost as an evil cross between Liza Minnelli and Liberace, Martin Short is a welcome presence. Allen and Short seem to be having so much fun that their enthusiasm is entirely contagious. Let the season begin.
VERDICT: "Matinée" - (Mixed reaction). These kinds of movies are usually movies that had some good things, but some bad things kept it from being amazing. This rating says to pay matinée prices to see at a theatre or buy an ex rental or a cheap price the DVD to own.
