Review of The Santa Clause 2 (2002) by Luke B — 02 Dec 2010
The Santa Clause 2 may not be a perfect sequel, but enjoyable to say at the least.
Its been about eight years since the last one, Charlie's all grown up, and Scott is still the mystical figure as he was.
This sequel really has the same dynamics of the first one, which is a message about beliefs and love. The filmmaking is even better then the first one, the whole set direction of the place is really great and the visuals are pretty good as well. The romance between Scott and Principal Newman really does shine, and has so many charms to it. A Lot of new characters were added that are quite enjoyable to watch. The humor is quite good here as well, especially when Scott is the Fake Santa Clause, I feel those were the funniest moments in the entire movie. All the old characters are back as well such as David Krumholtz, Eric Lloyd, Judge Reinhold, and Wendy Crewson back as their original characters from the first one.
A lot of the Christmas puns and jokes were really cheesy, I feel that they were way overdone, plus some of the movie has pacing problems.
The thing that impressed me most about this sequel is how they manage to keep the charm of the original in a span of over eight years, while still unnecessary, I feel The Santa Clause 2 is quite enjoyable anyhow.
