Say what you want about the series of film that fall under this title. The sequels to these films were certainly more cartoonish and playing to the lowest common denominator amongst 4 year olds but the first one actually was trying to be a Christmas film for the 90's family, and not just for the kids.
Re imagining yuletide traditions yet remaining pretty faithful to the Santa legend, and tackling divorce family drama. There is a great deal of cynicism and sadness that Tim Allen and his co-star must wrestle with before the happy typical Christmas ending.
