Review of The Sandlot 2 (2005) by Anthony E — 20 Sep 2009
The first movie I watched it many years ago and can't remember much of it at all. I believe this straight to video sequel doesn't have much of a link. It is quite alright and fun fill on its own term.
The kids are whole new bunch. The boys likes baseball and the leader is Max Lloyd Jones. A new girl move to the small town, her house is just next to the field. She's Samantha Burton, and she's really hot and pretty.
With 2 other girls they are professional little softball players. So both sides tried to get full usage of the field and had a little competiton but it never ends. After sometime they call it a truce and let the girls join to form a team.
James Willson is the boy who loves rockets but not baseball. One day the ball was hit over to the other side. James told them the story about the great fear staying on that side. It is a giant monster dog and had chase after a boy years ago.
Nobody knows what happen to him. The owner build the big fence to keep it in and to keep people out. It just happen that Samantha's dad is a rocket scientist and had a big scale rocket model to lauch, inviting James too.
But on the agreed day he was out. The little boy set up everything and waited for him but dozed off, drop the controller and lauched the rocket. The model landed on the other side. They tried ways to get it but always fail.
Finally Max save the day and they then know he was the boy from the story. He retrieve the model and was chase rentlessly by the dog and eventually was rescued by it when he fell down and got bury in soil.
The whole fence fell. The dog is actually friendly. They bring him to the owner (James Earl Jones) who is not the bad guy as depicted. The kids apologised and agreed to walk the dog for him. Max & Samantha got together.
The end.
