Review of The Sandlot (1993) by Julia O — 19 Feb 2013
Ah, the film of my childhood--okay, not exactly. But I did watch it numerous times as a kid, "The Sandlot" was one of those films that your parents would shout out your name to inform you that it was on TV.
When I was in the 4th grade, I was in the hospital for X reasons and due to complications, I ended up having a longer stay then I should have. In my crippled state, one of the movies (in fact, it may have been the only one) that I watched was "The Sandlot.
" The performances are as about as good as you can expect from child actors, if not better. Personally, I am not a baseball fan nor do I have any knowledge about baseball but I still managed to enjoy the film.
"the Sandlot" has a legitimate 60s vibe to it and to be honest, there are very few films that can actually make you 'believe' that the events occurred in whatever time period but "The Sandlot" nails it.
