Review of The Sand Pebbles (1966) by Doug O — 13 Jul 2009
Steve McQueen is at his best in one of director Robert Wise's many great films. Set in China in the 1920s, the movie is really an alternate take on U.S. involvement in Vietnam and made at a time when Hollywood was not making movies about the Vietnam War.
A terrific story with great performances and one of composer Jerry Goldsmith's best scores...
