Review of The Salvation (2014) by Patrick K — 04 May 2015
Way back when to the days that westerns were in its prime there were some great ones and in the modern day we just dont seem to churn out good ones that often. Here we have a proper old school western where Jon (Mads Mikkelsen) a Danish ex soldier is going on a trip with his wife and son until a gang unseat him from the carriage and kill his wife and son so after he gets free of the leader Delarue (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) he goes on an all out revenge mission with a little help from Madelaine (Eva Green).
This was a highly enjoyable film with a fairly short runtime. Mads Mikkelsen was outstanding as he always is and was well supported by Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Eva Green really shouldnt have been casted as she was really underused and not really necessary in a film like this.
..plus we had Eric Cantona which was nice to see.
