Review of The Saltmen of Tibet (1997) by Spencer P — 25 Jan 2010
A brilliant documentary on one of the world's little-known and dying traditional cultures. Forget "March of the Penguins"...a Morgan Freeman voiceover for this movie would have made it a lot better.
That aside, in spite of any misgivings I initially had about the movie (I admit I only picked it up because there was nothing else on the shelf), it held my attention for the entire two hours, which is more than I can say for many Hollywood big-budget films.
It's sometimes a chore both keeping up with the subtitles and watching what's going on, but I honestly think a bad English voiceover would have been more distracting than anything. I say you should definitely give this movie a try if you have a couple hours to kill and nothing better to watch.
