Review of The Saint (2017) by Andrew H — 26 Aug 2017
The Saint has seen several incarnations over the years, among other things a radio show in the 40s and the TV show in the 60s with Roger Moore. The major problem with this version, is that it feel very 1990s.
That may have been quite ok, you know, in the 1990s, but here it the formula feels very formulaic. This is too bad, because at times it really is quite entertaining. Weren't you supposed to have a higher academic degree to join the FBI? Apparently the screen writers didn't really consider that.
Anyway, The Saint as such is a very interesting setup, but that ultimately fails to deliver the real goods due to the bad scripts. Production and acting is ok I guess. I am still waiting for the iteration of The Saint, perhaps in a decade or so.
Sigh.
