Review of The Saint (1997) by Paul N — 11 Jan 2009
Everybody rags on this flick, and I honestly have no idea why. Sure, it's disposable, but otherwise it's a solidly directed (Noyce always does a fine job) and very entertaining action flick, with Kilmer and Shue in very likeable form.
The Saint's never been a character of serious import -- from George Sanders wittily swaggering his way through the 1930s film series to Roger Moore swaving it up (much better than he did with Bond, in my opinion) in the '60s TV show -- so the film's relatively light tone is absolutely perfect.
