Like all Ti West films, there is an alienating amount of build up to the main event (horror), though here it switches up a bit more quickly -- and abruptly-- than his master piece, House of the Devil. The horror scenes are effective but this film just doesn't have much to say.
Besides, what? Cults are bad? Fun midnight viewing for genre enthusiasts, but watch Martha Marcy May Marlene for really excellent cult psycho-horror.
