Review of The Russia House (1990) by Brad W — 18 Apr 2009
The Russia House is probably my favourite espionage movie. It has a nice combination of professional and amateur spies so it isn't as formulaic as many espionage thrillers. I would describe this as a spy drama rather than as a spy thriller. The pacing is just the way I like it, slow enough that one can feel the ambience of the setting but quick enough to keep one interested. It's a lot like 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy' in that respect.
Great soundtrack, interesting characters played by talented actors.
