Review of The Running Man (1987) by Anthony C — 26 Aug 2009
Pure 80s action cheese, replete with Arnold, Ventura, Thorsen, and other musclebound "actors." Big explosions, low-budget-looking sets and effects, a dystopian future, and bad-to-mediocre acting - a recipe for classic, corny, incredible cheese.
It's over the top, it tries to mash together "Escape from New York" with 20 Questions, and it was made entirely in a two-block radius of industrial wreckage. The little vehicles they drive around in remind me of "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians.
" If you're looking for cheesy action that manages to throw in some Arnold one-liners, then you've got yourself a winner tonight, right here on...RUNNING MAN!
