Review of The Running Man (1987) by Lariste K — 23 Jul 2018
Hideous late 80's violence/sadism movie about a 'futuristic game show' where people are stalked and murdered after being framed for crimes they didn't commit. The plot's process or motivations are never fully explained and Shwarzenegger plays, simply, a very muscular man who gets in fights.
Many of the characters are oddly shallow and repulsive, and the main Sci Fi motifs appear lifted from better known 70s films. Half decent Harold Faltermeyer soundtrack, also some truly awful computer games and other marketing appeared at the time.
Essentially this is a film where the director dropped the project so it was picked up by someone else at the last minute, although why this happened I'm not entirely sure.
