Review of The Rundown (2003) by Linda G — 08 Aug 2012
I cringed at the thought of The Rock attempting to establish himself as the next big action star in the vein of Schwarzenegger, Stallone, Willis, and so forth. After all, he didn't really have to do anything in The Mummy Returns.
That being said, The Rundown is actually a really good start for the former pro wrestler. It's not intelligent by any means, but there's enough of a plot to get the action rolling and the jungles of Brazil are captured well.
Seann William Scott provides the comedic edge, which isn't bad, but it's not all that necessary either. Christopher Walken never plays a character I don't like, and this is no exception. He's kind of the odd man out in an action-adventure film, but he turns in a good performance as the primary antagonist.
Like I said, it doesn't take a high IQ to gain something from this movie, but it's worth seeing.
