Review of The Rundown (2003) by Dan B — 06 Sep 2013
The Rundown has been streaming on Netflix for awhile. They have it streaming in the background at work all the time. Yet, I haven't spent any actual time sitting down and fully viewing The Rundown til this point. At first I was concerned because I'm not a big fan of Dwayne Johnson ("The Rock") or Sean William Scott. When I think of Dwayne I think of watching wrestling back in middle school. When I think of SWS I think of American Pie and how annoying he was. BUT, I placed my prejudices aside and here we go.
Beck (The Rock) is a retrieval specialist. He is wanting out. He wants to retire and live a more simple life. His last job involves retrieving his bosses son, Travis (Sean William Scott) from the Brazilian rain forest. Travis is in this specific area trying to locate treasure. Upon Beck meeting Travis a guy named Hatcher gets involved. Hatcher (Christopher Walken) owns a bunch of slaves that work in a mine. He feels like anything in his area is his property. While Beck and Travis are fighting they have to also escape Hatcher. This if a very fast paced plot and everything escalates quickly.
If you are seeking an action movie this is the way to go. Explosions, guns, fighting... a little bit of everything. Not only is it full of action it also has some comedy. Sean William Scott wasn't as obnoxious as I kept fearing. The Rock wasn't annoying either. Christopher Walken is always fun to watch in movies. He's a great bad guy in The Rundown. Not amazing, not terrible, but if you need something to watch on Netflix after work... stream it!
