"K, special!" Yes, it was a special movie! Same genre as The Doors or Walk the line, but with these two, ... damn that was good! Set in 1975 with great features in atributes, clothes, cars and everything, we follow the story of how the teenage band The Runaways became famous.

It's a hard time for Joan aswell as for Cherie who's parents aren't actually arround so they become degenerates, nothing heavy yet, except for the alcohol problem Cherie's dad has and the fact her mom moves to Indonesia.

The troubled life of Joan is far less given, she seems the rebel. After some clubbing and stating all this, Joan meets Kim, the producer and so the base is laid for an all-girl rock band, all they need is a lead singer,.

.. Cherie ofcourse. It's mostly hard on her, certainly in the beginning. the shit the band has to take is very invasivly and abruptingly shown, kicking against morality and ethics and this is just the beginning.

This is just the point, outraging the world! From here on the band experiences the fame, the press and the insane world of rock 'n roll, keeping in mind they are just girls. Sex and drugs and rock 'n roll are excessively presented, very well acted by Kirsten and Dakota.

Although it centeres Cherie, I found Kirsten as the rebelious rock chick more convincing and fun to watch. This is probably because she realy makes it in real life, but Cherie was to troubled by the way of life.

It gets pretty hard,snorting crushed pills before getting on stage and then fainting due to extensive drug-use later on, all very well depicted in this great band movie! I was realy suprised because I didn't realy know this was about how the band of The Runaways or Joan Jett and The Blackhearts for that matter was formed! A realy touching and deep look at this band, mostly the two leads, very intreging, very well done!
