Sadly, in then end, I have to say that I was disappointed by THE RUNAWAYS. Something felt off and not complete. The rise and fall of the band never felt real. The movie focused completely on them and never measured their sucess within the culture.
It felt like they spent the entire film in the trailer practicing. WhileIi thought Stewart did a great job mimicing Joan Jett, I never bought Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie. Shes still that little girl we all know.
I wanted to like this.. but in the end I cant quite put my finger on how it failed for me other than It had no impact. I think Sigismondi is a fantastic director of visuals, beyond that I just cant give her a thumbs up yet.
I give this a big ol' MEH.
