Review of The Rules of Attraction (2002) by Blue Eyes! — 19 Jun 2008
Not nearly as bad as a lot of people think it is. The cast comes and goes with the strongest performances coming from Somerhalder and several supporting roles (The cafeteria girl comes to mind). Sossamon actually manages to pull herself out of the usual trance like state and bring emotion to several key moments of the film and Biel is great as the resident bitch.
The plot is pretty much the same as the book, though as usual the source material is far better. The excessive nudity and drug content is not to my taste, but it does set a certain tone to the film. Definately worth a watch, if for nothing else than for the funny cameos by Swoosie Kurtz and Faye Dunaway as visiting mothers.
