Review of The Rules of Attraction (2002) by Ryan L — 07 Feb 2008
This is not for people who like neatly wrapped up narratives, as you probably won't get the specifics of the story (and what order they go in) in one viewing. However, the stuff that happens is interesting, and James Van Der Beek has this weird psycho vibe going that makes you stay in your seat and watch the thing play out.
I didn't know it at the time of the my first viewing, but his character, Sean Bateman, is supposed to be the little brother of Christian Bale's Patrick Bateman from American Psycho. Looking back on it, that makes perfect sense.
This movie isn't as good as AP, but Jessia Biel does play a slutty chick. So points there.
