Many times the visual canvas of film does a better job of carrying through with a horror story, but this is not the case for "The Ruins." In comparison with the book, the suspense is gone, the terror of this supernatural and unique travelogue is gone.
What seemed eerily possible on paper seems completely implausible on screen.
