Review of The Rugrats Movie (1998) by Steven P — 21 Jun 2010
If you're looking for a family film that most of your brood will enjoy, forget Baby Geniuses. (Already did? Good.) This film still manages to hold its own 12 years after its initial release. The Rugrats TV series was a gem because it put toddlers in believeable situations and showed how they might deal with them.
The film, which introduces Dil into the Pickles family where Tommy long stood as the only child, makes that formula succeed again, as it was the first animated film not put out by Disney to make over $100 million in the US.
To my detractors, say what you will, but this is one of the best media of the golden age of Nickelodeon (1991-2001). The Rugrats Movie gets an 82 out of 100.
