Review of The Rugrats Movie (1998) by Wedstarfish 8 — 28 Jul 2015
When I was a little kid, I loved this movie. I watched it all the time at my grandma's house, she hated it. When I grew up and watched it again, I noticed some great flaws in here.
Tommy Pickles is excited to see his new brother, and can't wait, so can't the others. When his new baby brother is born, he is annoying and extremely selfish, which brings nothing but sadness and depression, mainly for Tommy and his parents. Meanwhile, Gill is making a children's toy, about to send it to Japan, when the boys decide to take little baby brother Gill back to the hospital in it, and it turns into a dangerous, fun adventure into the woods. The boys try to survive on their own, and it turns into risks and plenty of danger, including thunderstorms, getting violently attacked by monkeys, floating away on rivers, and getting into fights. They see a cabin from far away and think it is a house of a wizard, as they call it a "lizard", and then get even more lost.
It's not a lot you would not expect from Rugrats: Crude potty and toilet humor, and a poor plot. For adults, this movie could be torture. For kids 0-7, this could be fun. For ages 9+, it could be both. Either way, it's fun and entertaining and matches up with the classic animated TV show.
