Review of The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) by John S — 17 Aug 2011
This is Wes Anderson's magnus opus. It has the stunning ability to be heart-wrenching and heart-warming at the same time, providing the viewer with the odd sensation of feeling inspired and the feeling of hopelessness and hopefulness at once.
Wes is a wizard in his whimsical and quirky aesthetic style and it is indeed so delicious to watch as it is to listen to the enchanting score. With possibly the greatest ensemble cast since The Godfather, this film is one of most intriguing family comedies of all time and has changed the definition of what it means to be quirky and peculiar.
