Review of The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) by Faiz D — 16 Feb 2013
I have a love-hate relationship with this movie. It's a Wes Anderson movie, which means that it was shot with a lot of detail, meticulousness, and organization, and I love that about his movies. However, very often Wes's characters lack a certain amount of build up.
In this movie, there are so many characters that he cannot build up many characters very much. Royal, Ethel, and Henry are all very relatable and do have interesting story arcs that teach each of them something, and I love the message that this movie has.
However, even though I enjoyed Richie, the exploits of the children suffer because of how confusing and almost unimportant they are.nOverall, I really like the message and style of The Royal Tenenbaums.
