Review of The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) by Grant F — 18 Oct 2013
What I love about the Royal Tenenbaums was how each character was genuine. Wes Anderson isn't a film maker that beats around the bush with his character or dialogue. He is a director and writer that isn't afraid to be unfeigned. Some say this is his masterpiece. Personally, I preferred Moonrise Kingdom to this. Also Fantastic Mr. Fox slips way ahead of both of them. I am not far into his filmography, but I like where I am going.
Visually, Tenenbaums is a painting. The detail in production design is extraordinary. Every color and prop has its place.
The characters are so well presented you can't help but know what they are thinking at any given moment. Great performances throughout.
I know that this movie will grow on me with every viewing and I welcome it gladly.
