Review of The Rover (2014) by Richard S — 25 Feb 2015
David Michôd follows up his unbearably tense family crime drama Animal Kingdom with a relentlessly bleak and grim tale set in an almost post apocalyptic Australia as one man tracks down the theives who stole his car.
Although it doesn't live up to the director's superb debut, his 2nd movie is still worth a look. It's hard to describe, it's a strange kind of buddy movie crossed with a survival movie set in a post apocalyptic future, the narrative doesn't really go anywhere yet there is something strangely hypnotic about the film. Certainly a strange one and not what I was expecting.
