"The Rover," a film after a economic epidemic, a wasteland of Australia, and nothing to do but fend for your lives. Sounds like it could be an exciting film, one that almost looked like a "Mad Max" post apocalyptic film. Well, not so much here. The film is in that genre, but not with the intensity, nor the explosions and action. This is more of a drama take on that idea, and it wasn't bad, I was just somewhat bored.

Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson saved this film from a bad review. The performances they put forth are quite impressive. Although, I'm main,y impressed with Pattinson, he plays a mentally challenged man who is taken by Pearce's character to find the brother who stole his car and left his special brother behind to die. I wasn't aware Partinson had it in him to take on a role such as this, but I was impressed.

The plot is simple, a man wants revenge on the man who stole his vehicle, and the on,u way to him is to take in his brother and find him. It's slow, it's quiet, the music is great but the pace of the film started off too slow. It does gradually pick up, but more so towards the end of the film when all the action happens. There's a few action scenes, but they aren't full of explosions or huge fights or gun play. It was a pretty laid back film, and I think that's why I got bored with it and slowly lost interest. In its own right, it's a good film, I like the idea, I liked the actors picked, and I liked the cinematography. It's beautifully shot, and the composer did an excellent job with the music and sound.

I'm just not sure I'd ever watch it again, I saw it, I kind of liked it, but I won't be spending another hour and a half of my life on this film. Sorry Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson, you just couldn't fully save the film. 3/5 JD.
