Review of The Rover (2014) by Jeff K — 21 Jun 2014
Note to everyone. If society ever collapses and there is an end to civilization, don't go to Australia. At least not if you watch The Rover.
As with many post-apocalyptic movies, once the world ends and civilization ceases to exist, you enter a stage of I don't give a fuck that brings the most primal elements in humans. One would imagine that if something so calamitous would happen, at least a few people would want to rebuild.
Well not in The Rover. Here it's every man for himself and every man seems to come straight out of the movie Freaks. Where the fuck did the director and producers find these people. One is scarier than the next.
Also, few people can play a deranged lunatic as well as Guy Pierce. And once you find his motivation it will make you cringe or explode in laughter.
I found this movie refreshing but tough to watch and certainly brings a new perspective on not pissing the wrong guy off.
