Review of The Rover (2014) by David A — 10 Sep 2014
The rover is a solid and the engaging post apocalyptic thriller drama. Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson give absolutely stellar performances that engage you in their characters. While the premise is simplistic, the leads help engage you into the story, but while the premise is intriguing the film's narrative is flimsy and the second acts feels dull and offer little in terms of character development or suspense.
The biggest glaring issue is a lack of development with the supporting characters, while Robert Pattinson's character feels whole many of the other characters don't offer much and the villains feel dull and generic when they could of been intriguing characters of their own.
Some beautiful and crisp cinematography helps add to the film's dark and gritty tone even if there is a music selection in the second act that does hinder the tone slightly.
