Review of The Rover (2014) by Filmgrinder S — 26 Sep 2014
This was an odd film. Not odd in a necessarily bad way, just odd. The soundtrack is also well, odd. First off two great performances from Pearce and Pattinson both delivering more than solid portrayals of their characters.
For much of the movie it is unclear what the motivation is for the main character and what he does throughout the film. What we do know for sure is that he is a broken man who has seen the worst and suffered as a result of that.
This has most likely eroded away some of his sanity and most, if not all of his morals. I would be more willing to give this a higher rating if it had a more clear point and direction. I was wondering all along what exactly this movie was trying to communicate and the ending did nothing to change that.
